Ex-Lawmaker Shehu Sani Appeals to Dangote Refinery to Recall Dismissed Workers

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has called on the management of Dangote Refinery to reconsider the recent dismissal of workers and reinstate them.

Sani, in a statement on Sunday, described the refinery as a national asset that should set the standard for fair labor practices, adding that laying off workers at such a critical stage undermines public confidence in the facility.

“The refinery is not just a private venture but a project of immense national importance. It should demonstrate social responsibility by protecting the welfare of its workforce,” Sani said.

He further urged stakeholders in the labor movement, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), to engage the refinery’s management to resolve the matter amicably.

The call comes amid public debate on the refinery’s restructuring drive, with many Nigerians expressing concern about the impact of the reported sack on livelihoods and the local economy.
