Hoodlums take advantage of naira scarcity to attack banks in Lagos’ Epe area, causing banks to temporarily halt operations. Confirming the attacks, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin said that three banks, including Zenith, Access and Keystone banks, were targeted.

Pictures online show broken glasses at the attacked banks. This attack is part of a larger pattern of unrest and pockets of protests throughout Lagos State over the scarcity of the new naira notes and the hardship it has caused for Nigerians.

Fighting has broken out in areas such as Ojota, Mile 12, and Ketu, along the Lagos-Ikorodu Expressway, and there have been protests in Agege, Iyana-Ipaja and Igando as reported.
