The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched the third edition of its Talent Hunt Research through Hackathon, aligning with its Strategic Vision Plan 2023-2025 to foster the development of new technologies and indigenous content in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

The initiative aims to stimulate sustainable economic growth and development in the country, with a particular focus on harnessing emerging digital technologies. The Hackathon will revolve around three main themes: Blockchain-enabled Data Protection Solutions for Enhancing Regulatory Compliance, Assistive Technology Solutions for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, and Technology Solutions for Renewable Energy in Rural Areas.

According to the NCC, this competition seeks to translate innovative ideas into practical hardware and software solutions that address industry and societal challenges. The best three solutions, one from each thematic area, will be awarded grants of N10 million each for further development.

To be eligible to participate, enterprises must meet several criteria, including registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), no prior support from the Commission, clear relevance to one of the specified themes, and providing a comprehensive problem statement, proposed solution, and deployment roadmap.

Entries must be submitted online in the prescribed format, with no financial cost to participate. Intellectual property rights for the developed solutions will remain with the NCC.

Interested and qualified enterprises should submit their applications by September 22, 2023, following the guidelines outlined on the NCC’s official website.
