At a retreat in Abuja on Tuesday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, unveiled a comprehensive five-pronged vision designed to enhance the Federal Government’s communication strategies.
Idris emphasized the importance of transparency in public communication as essential for rebuilding public trust and effectively conveying the government’s agenda. His vision aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative and focuses on modernizing ministry technology, reorienting national values, and fostering a more supportive environment for media operations in Nigeria.
The five key aspects of the vision include: restoring public trust in government communications, amplifying Federal Government policies and programs, inspiring Nigerian narratives and reorienting national values, modernizing technology and talent in information and communications, and creating favorable policies and incentives for media operations.
Idris called for collaboration among the ministry’s staff and its parastatals to achieve these goals and urged open discussions on challenges to ensure effective delivery of the ministry’s mandate.
The retreat also highlighted the implementation of a structured agenda under the Renewed Hope Initiative, with a tracking system managed by the Central Results Delivery and Coordinating Unit (CRDCU). Idris noted that a performance bond, signed by himself and the Permanent Secretary, would be extended to the heads of parastatals to reinforce commitment to the ministry’s goals.
The minister stressed that transparency and teamwork are crucial for fulfilling the ministry’s mandate and delivering results that resonate with the government’s development objectives.
