In a significant development for Nigeria’s economic landscape, Governor Yemi Cardoso of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is poised to take center stage at the prestigious 2024 edition of the Vanguard Annual Economic Summit. Against the backdrop of notable strides in the foreign exchange market, attributed to his groundbreaking monetary policies and strategic forex interventions, Cardoso’s participation underscores the pivotal role of central bank leadership in shaping the nation’s economic trajectory.

The Nigerian Naira has witnessed a remarkable appreciation trend, marking its fourth consecutive week of gains. Closing at N1,260 per dollar in the parallel market, this represents a notable improvement from the N1,890 exchange rate recorded at the end of February 2024. Similarly, the official market saw the Naira closing at N1,255.07 per dollar, up from N1,760 in February, reflecting the positive impact of CBN’s monetary policies.

Under Governor Cardoso’s stewardship, a series of far-reaching reforms have been implemented within the monetary space since July last year. These initiatives have been instrumental in bolstering Nigeria’s economic resilience and positioning the nation for sustained growth amidst global economic uncertainties.
