In a surprising turn of events at the Upper Area Court in Kubwa, FCT, businessman Nasiru Yunusa has presented an unconventional condition for granting his wife, Aisha Hamisu, a divorce — a payment of N1 million.

The couple, married under Islamic laws in 2021 and parents to a 13-month-old daughter, found themselves in court as Hamisu sought to dissolve the marriage, citing lack of care and respect. Hamisu claimed Yunusa had moved her belongings to her father’s house on April 19, 2022.

Yunusa, countering the allegations, expressed his willingness for Hamisu to return home but insisted on the N1 million compensation. He stated, “I’ve invested in legal proceedings, in addition to spending N1 million on her, which I am prepared to verify.”

In response, Hamisu, denying love for Yunusa, asserted, “He hasn’t spent N1 million on me. I’ve been with my parents for two and a half years after he left my property at their doorstep.” She went on to mention that Yunusa hadn’t contributed to the hospital bill for their daughter’s cesarean section.

Amidst these financial negotiations, the Judge, Mohammed Wakili, adjourned the case until January 8 for further proceedings.
