LAGOS — Nigerian startups reportedly attracted $113.7 million in funding in June 2026, highlighting continued investor interest in the country’s technology ecosystem despite tighter and more selective capital conditions across Africa.
The funding surge comes at a time when investors are becoming increasingly cautious, with founders facing greater pressure to demonstrate sustainable growth, strong market traction and clear paths to profitability before securing new investment.
While capital continues to flow into Africa’s startup sector, the funding environment has become more competitive, forcing companies to show stronger business fundamentals and measurable results.
Nigeria remains one of the continent’s leading startup markets, with fintech, artificial intelligence, digital commerce and other technology-driven sectors continuing to attract investor attention.
The June funding figure underscores the resilience of Nigerian founders and suggests that, despite a more disciplined investment climate, companies with strong traction and scalable business models can still secure significant capital.
