Dangote Refinery Restructures Staff Amid Sabotage Concerns, Dispels Mass Layoff Claims

The management of Dangote Refinery has announced a reorganisation of its workforce following what it described as acts of sabotage threatening its operations.

In a statement issued on Friday, the refinery’s spokesperson dismissed speculations of a mass sack, clarifying that the changes were aimed at strengthening efficiency and safeguarding the multibillion-dollar facility.

“Contrary to misleading reports circulating in some quarters, there has been no mass dismissal of staff. What we are undertaking is a strategic restructuring to reposition the refinery for optimal performance,” the statement read.

The company explained that internal investigations had uncovered sabotage-related incidents, prompting management to introduce tighter operational controls and redeployments where necessary.

Dangote Refinery assured employees and stakeholders that the reorganisation would not affect job security, stressing that the welfare of its staff remained a priority.

“We are fully committed to protecting our workforce and ensuring stability. The refinery is Africa’s biggest industrial project, and nothing will be allowed to compromise its operations,” the company added.

Industry watchers say the move highlights the challenges of managing a facility of such scale, but note that management’s quick response signals its determination to keep the refinery on track.
