Nigerian Educators Target Guinness Record With 60,000-Teacher Conference

A coalition of education stakeholders in Nigeria has unveiled plans to host a mega conference bringing together 60,000 teachers, with the aim of setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of educators.

The event, scheduled to hold later this year, will feature workshops, training sessions, and panel discussions designed to empower teachers with modern skills for effective classroom delivery.

Organizers say the conference is not just about breaking records but also about repositioning the teaching profession in Nigeria and celebrating the role of educators in nation-building.

“Our goal is to inspire and equip teachers while showing the world that Nigerian educators are united, innovative, and capable of setting global standards,” one of the conveners said at the press briefing in Abuja.

The Guinness World Records team has reportedly been contacted to oversee and certify the attempt once the conference takes place.

If successful, the feat will place Nigeria on the global education map and highlight ongoing efforts to revamp teaching and learning across the country.

Education experts have hailed the initiative as both symbolic and practical, noting that such a large-scale forum could also provide networking opportunities and influence future education policy.
