Ride-hailing company, Bolt, has unveiled a new safety initiative aimed at enhancing protection for both drivers and passengers with the introduction of dashboard cameras in its vehicles.
The company explained that the move is part of its broader commitment to building trust and ensuring secure journeys across its platform. The cameras, which will be installed in selected vehicles, are designed to capture in-car activity, providing an added layer of accountability in the event of disputes or incidents.
According to Bolt, the video recordings will only be accessible under specific circumstances, such as during investigations of reported safety concerns. The company also assured users that strict data protection protocols would be observed, ensuring that privacy is not compromised.
Industry analysts note that the adoption of in-car cameras by ride-hailing services reflects a growing emphasis on passenger safety in Nigeria’s transport sector, where concerns about security and misconduct have been a recurring issue.
Bolt stated that the initiative is one of several new features it plans to roll out to further improve user confidence and ride experience.
