MultiChoice Faces FCCPC Scrutiny Over Price Hike

MultiChoice Nigeria, the operator of DStv and GOtv, has come under regulatory scrutiny following its recent subscription price hike.

On February 24, the company announced new pricing for its packages, sparking a public outcry. In response, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has summoned MultiChoice’s CEO for an investigative hearing held on February 27.

FCCPC’s Directives

  • MultiChoice must freeze the new subscription prices until the investigation is completed.
  • The company must justify the price increase amid economic concerns.

The FCCPC has vowed to ensure that consumers are not unfairly burdened by unjustified price hikes. As the investigation unfolds, Nigerians are keenly watching whether the regulator will force MultiChoice to roll back the new prices.
